What Cloudflare Deploy does

Cloudflare Deploy is a skill designed to streamline the deployment of applications and infrastructure on the Cloudflare platform. It provides a structured approach to utilizing Cloudflare's various services, including Workers, Pages, and other related tools. By following the provided decision trees, users can quickly determine the appropriate product for their deployment needs, whether it involves running serverless functions, setting up full-stack web applications, or managing data storage solutions.

The skill emphasizes the importance of authentication before deploying any applications. Users must verify their credentials using the wrangler command-line tool, ensuring secure access to their Cloudflare accounts. The skill also includes guidance on handling deployment timeouts and sandboxing issues, which can be critical when working in restricted environments.

With a comprehensive index of Cloudflare products, this skill enables developers and designers to easily navigate the various offerings available for compute, storage, AI/ML, networking, security, and media. Each product is linked to detailed references, allowing users to delve deeper into specific functionalities and configurations. This makes it an invaluable resource for anyone looking to leverage Cloudflare's capabilities effectively.

Overall, Cloudflare Deploy is particularly suited for developers and teams who are actively building or managing applications on the Cloudflare platform. Its structured approach and detailed references help reduce the complexity of deploying and managing cloud infrastructure, making it easier to focus on development rather than deployment logistics.

When to use it

Use this skill when you need to deploy applications, host projects, or set up infrastructure on Cloudflare.

When not to use it

This skill may not be suitable for users who are not deploying to Cloudflare or those who require extensive customization beyond the provided options.

What you can build with it

Deploying a Serverless Function

Use this skill to quickly deploy serverless functions at the edge using Cloudflare Workers.

Setting Up a Full-Stack Web App

Leverage Cloudflare Pages for deploying a full-stack web application with Git integration.

Managing Data Storage Solutions

Utilize the skill to determine the best storage option for your application, such as KV or R2.

How to install Cloudflare Deploy

View source

1. Install with the skills CLI

npx skills add openai/skills/cloudflare-deploy --agent claude-code

2. Or install it manually

Download the skill folder and drop it into ~/.claude/skills/ for all projects, or .claude/skills/ to scope it to one repo. Restart Claude Code so it picks up the new skill.

Anthropic's agentic coding CLI, and the reference implementation of Agent Skills. Drop a skill folder into ~/.claude/skills and Claude Code loads it automatically whenever a task matches the skill's description. Claude Code docs

Cloudflare Deploy

Consolidated skill for building on the Cloudflare platform. Use decision trees below to find the right product, then load detailed references.

Prerequisites

  • When sandboxing blocks the deployment network calls, rerun with sandbox_permissions=require_escalated.
  • The deployment might take a few minutes. Use appropriate timeout values.

Authentication (Required Before Deploy)

Verify auth before wrangler deploy, wrangler pages deploy, or npm run deploy:

npx wrangler whoami # Shows account if authenticated

Not authenticated? → references/wrangler/auth.md

  • Interactive/local: wrangler login (one-time OAuth)
  • CI/CD: Set CLOUDFLARE_API_TOKEN env var

Troubleshooting

Escalated Network Access

If deployment fails due to network issues (timeouts, DNS errors, connection resets), rerun the deploy with escalated permissions (use sandbox_permissions=require_escalated). The deploy requires escalated network access when sandbox networking blocks outbound requests.

Example guidance to the user:

The deploy needs escalated network access to deploy to Cloudflare. I can rerun the command with escalated permissions—want me to proceed?
